TweetFlyers for Computer Space (1971)
Computer Space is a video arcade game released in November 1971 by Nutting Associates. Created by Nolan Bushnell and Ted Dabney, who would both later found Atari, Inc., it is generally accepted that it was the world’s first commercially sold coin-operated video game — and indeed, the first commercially sold video game of any kind, predating the Magnavox Odyssey’s release by six months, and Atari’s Pong by one year. TweetRetrogaming graphics: Challenger (チャレンジャー)
Hudson Soft for Nintendo Famicom, 1985.
Japanese flyer, screens & art from the manual. Not one of the most known Famicom titles in the west, Challenger is a pretty popular game in Japan. If you want to discover more about this good 8-bit title please take a look at the links below. As a graphic curiosity note that the look of the big boss is clearly based in Darth Vader, and the princess waiting to be rescued is a japanized version of Leia - this time saved by an Indiana Jones-inspired hero.
